I’m Wendy – born in the UK but currently residing in Kazakhstan. I’ve also lived in Belarus, Ghana and the USA.
I’m a freelance writer, specialising in travel and culture. Many of my articles appear online and in print – published under my pen name of Anne Coombes. I’ve also updated travel guides for Dorling Kindersley and wrote the Belarus edition for the Culture Smart series.
When I’m not writing, I’m reading and editing.
I copy-edit for a weekly newspaper and monthly magazine, and style reports for the UNDP, UNICEF and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC).
I love mountain landscapes, lakes, wild animals, warm sun and stormy skies, marzipan, sushi and Earl Grey tea. I do not love airports.
My secret plan is to live on a remote island in the Scottish Highlands, with my husband and lots of scruffy, licky, joyous dogs.
